Empat orang astronaut yang baru tiba di Bumi langsung dibawa ke rumah sakit. Namun, tak ada informasi apapun dari NASA soal hal tersebut.
Tiga orang astronaut Michael Barratt, Matthew Dominick dan Jeanette Epps, dan Alexander Grebenkin selaku kosmonot Roscosmos diketahui baru mendarat 25 Oktober 2024. Mereka menghabiskan 235 hari di antariksa dengan pesawat Crew Dragon.
Keempatnya langsung dibawa ke rumah sakit Pensacola, Florida, Amerika Serikat (AS). Seorang astronaut NASA dirawat dalam kondisi stabil dan baru keluar keesokan harinya.
NASA tak memberikan identitas astronaut yang dirawat. Badan antariksa AS itu hanya mengatakan evaluasi medis tambahan dilakukan ‘karena banyak kehati-hatian’.
Hal yang sama juga dilakukan ketiga astronaut NASA dalam konferensi pers 8 November 2024 lalu. Mereka menolak membahas soal hal tersebut.
Barratt yang juga merupakan dokter pelit bicara terkait peristiwa itu. Dia hanya mengatakan space flight belum dipahami sepenuhnya dan kemungkinan adanya peristiwa medis.
“Kami menyatukan hal ini dengan demikian mempertahankan privasi medis dan membiarkan proses maju secara tertib,” kata dia, dikutip dari Space News, Selasa (12/11/2024). “Hanya ini yang kami katakan soal peristiwa itu sekarang,” ujarnya menambahkan.
Ketiga astronaut juga menjelaskan soal penyesuaian bertahap setelah berada di luar angkasa selama berbulan-bulan. Epps mengatakan penyesuaian tiap orang bertahap dan tidak bisa diprediksi.
“Semua orang berbeda dan itu bagian yang tidak bisa diprediksi,” jelas Epps.
